History of Ray Tracing
The history of ray tracing can be traced back to Arthur Appel, who in 1968 presented an algorithm for rendering an image
with the use of a computer. In 1971 Goldstein and Nagel are credited with the first ray tracing implementation using
Boolean set operations. As computing power increased, Disney films was able to render 15 minutes of computer generated
images in the 1982 motion picture release of TRON.
Digital art is highly sought after for stock images. The surreal nature of digital art, and the ability of the artist to
express virtually anything she can imagine, opens up a wider range of possibilities than does photography. Three of the
best known digital artists of computer generated stock images are Matt Antonino, Katrina Brown, and Clivia.
Photos of Oil Painting
High resolution DSLR and scanning technology has allowed the beauty of oil paintings to be displayed in digital format. This
has opened up the usage of oil paintings as stock images. When photographing oil paintings, care must be taken to ensure
the lighting does not alter the original painting when viewed digitally. Even lighting is typically used, though enough
side lighting must exist to bring out the contrasts. We are pleased to present the oil paintings of Laurin Rinder as
stock art on Warmpicture.
Illustration and Digital Artwork
Another popular form of stock art is that of computer illustrations. By using popular computer painting programs and Photoshop,
digital artists are able to freely draw with a mouse or tablet pen. Like the previously mentioned digital art examples,
computer illustrators are bound only by their imagination and skill when creating stock art images.
