Are you ready for the New Year?
If you are a graphic designer or blogger and don’t have those boffo New Years photos ready to go, you best get to steppin’! But fret not. That’s why I am here. As you may have surmised by reading this blog for any length of time, I happen to know some pretty awesome photographers.
Let’s consider what we are looking for in a New Years theme stock image.
When we are choosing a stock image to include in a design project or blog post covering New Years, we want to give our readers something they can quickly digest so our overall message is not lost.
A little cliche can go a long way in a good New Years stock photo, but you don’t want to go overboard. We are looking for rave mix predictable, not Jessica Black predictable.
What we want is a photo or image which quickly conveys its message, but isn’t so loud that our own message cannot be heard.
I collected my favorite eight stock photos for 2012 to give you some ideas for your designs, and to provide a little inspiration. These cover a lot of different aspects, such as a gala event, a champagne toast, and even an environmental hope message for those of you who are thinking green in 2012.
What all of these stock images have in common is they:
- Are in sharp focus
- Have plenty of copy space for design flexibility
- Are High Resolution so we can crop to our specifications
- Have vibrant color which gets our customers’ attention
- Have a theme which is easy to understand
