Blogging is really big these days. There are hundreds of people launching new blogging websites every day. Of Woman and Thought Bubblecourse, they all have slightly different reasons. Some just want to write personal entries as a journal, or share thoughts and stories from their lives with friends and family. Some, on the other hand, want to create full-blown blogging businesses and aim at replacing their current jobs.

Anyway, I’m not here to tell you which path is the right one and which isn’t. I just want to give you some inspiration by pointing out blogs that made it by writing about … wait for it … blogging itself.

Now, you probably know of ProBlogger – the main blog in this niche. However, there’s also a number of other blogs that provide interesting articles on a regular basis. So here’s my set of 7 of those blogs:

Blog Tyrant

The guy who called himself the Blog Tyrant was kind of a mystery just until recently. No one actually knew what his name was. Yet, he was able to provide great content on blogging and build a significant readership. In June 2012 he finally decided to introduce himself to the public and reveal his name… And he still provides great content. Check it out for yourself.

Bloggers Passion

Bloggers Passion trails back to January 2010. This doesn’t make it the oldest blog online, but over 2 years of providing great blogging advice is still impressive. The blog was started by Anil Agarwal from India. Over the years he learnt how to turn his passion into business and make a full-time income from it.

Blogging Tips

Blogging Tips is a blogging project by Zac Johnson, one of the top affiliate marketers online. But this blog is actually a collaborative work of a number of writers, not just Zac. Because of this, you’ll find a nice package of diverse content and advice there. Surely worth checking out.

Aliventures

Aliventures is a blog by Ali Luke, a writer, blogger, and coach. Ali isn’t only into blogging, but also fiction writing and publishing her work in the traditional media. On this blog, she provides advice on writing, blogging, freelancing, finding motivation, and other related topics.

Basic Blog Tips

Just like the name says, this blog provides blog tips to beginner bloggers and writers. The author of the blog, Ileane, also shares info on social media, and how to use it to help you with your blogging. You can find a new post on Basic Blog Tips around every other day.

Blogcast FM

The site was created in 2010. It provides advice for online businesses and entrepreneurs on how they can use blogging to help their efforts. Blogcast FM also features a number of guest posts from other bloggers, authors, or entrepreneurs. On top of that, there’s the Blogcast FM podcast, averaging more than 70,000 downloads each month.

BloggingPro

BloggingPro is a lot more than just a blog about blogging. For instance, there’s a job board, reviews of WordPress themes, and some blogging books you can buy through Amazon. On top of that, BloggingPro also provides various advice for blog owners (everything from writing, to blog management, to security and other related topics).

This concludes my list, but feel free to share if you know of any other blogs that would look good here.

When the television first came on the scene, it was arguably one of the greatest advertising mediums ever conceived. With more people watching television each passing year, advertisers and businesses jumped on the opportunity to market to the ever-growing number of new viewers.

Since then, the average consumer’s relationship with television commercials has been one of mixed feelings, ranging anywhere from annoyance to surprise. For the most part though, they’re still considered to be an inconvenience.

The Viewers Fight Back

When TiVo came around in the late 1990s, the game began to change slightly: Viewers had control over commercials, and could conveniently skip over them with the click of a button. While it helped make their lives a little more enjoyable, the caveat was that it resulted in greatly reduced revenues for television networks that relied on advertising to make money.

Over the next decade, numerous other Personal Video Recorder (PVR) devices and on-demand services such as Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, began to pop up. Although this hasn’t reduced advertising completely, there’s no doubt that it’s not only led to a decrease in television viewership, but also a decrease in advertising revenues as more and more people seek ad-free viewing mediums.

So Why Do Users Hate Commercials in the First Place?

Actually, they don’t! Although commercials can be an inconvenience, it’s safe to say that a good majority of television viewers and Internet users harbor no particular grudge against advertising as a whole. In fact, there are some occasions where a commercial will not only be relevant to its viewer’s interest, but will entertain them as well. To the viewer, these commercials seem less like pushy advertising and more like entertainment.

For example, consider Super Bowl commercials: During one of America’s most-watched television events, grabbing and keeping the attention of the audience is of incredible importance. Advertisers and marketers will go out of their way to ensure that their commercials are as entertaining and interesting as possible. Because of this, they’re not only incredibly effective, but are also half the reason why so many people watch the Super Bowl in the first place!

Making a commercial entertaining, however, isn’t the only way to make it effective. Another method growing in popularity is custom-tailored advertisements, which exist primarily through mediums such as Hulu and YouTube. By keeping track of what users are watching, publishers are able to display ads that are relevant to the user’s interest and viewing patterns. Many online ads are also interactive, allowing the user to have some role in how they’re displayed.

All of these different methods have resulted in far better advertising, as well as commercials many viewers actually want to watch! Looking at this trend, we’re able to accurately predict what may very well be the not-so-bleak future of advertising.

Relevant, Interactive, Entertaining, and Customized Advertising

It’s safe to say that people don’t necessarily dislike commercials, they just dislike uncreative, boring, and “bad” advertising. As online viewership steadily grows, there’s a good chance that televisions will either change entirely or simply develop a way that advertisements are shown to users based on the channels they’ve watched, similar to how online advertising works at the moment. Television advertising may also start to shift more towards non-invasive product and ad placement, such as having brands show up in episodes of shows or occasionally placing small ad banners along the bottom edges of the screen.

With more people online, it’ll be far easier for marketers to create specially-tailored ads that are not only relevant, but are also entertaining and interactive to a certain extent. With such a system in place, commercials and advertisements may not be so annoying anymore!

There’s something to be said for capturing photos that your local drugstore’s film department has printed for you, but tucking them into plastic sleeves doesn’t capture the magic of our favorite memories like it once did. With a singular photo album, family and friends have to be in the same location to read it, and they can’t take their own version home.

photo book softwareLike many things, photo albums have been upgraded in the digital age. In their new incarnation, they’ve become photo books. As photo books, it’s possible for family and friends to treasure the memories you all share with a keepsake you can each own a copy of. Photo books make wonderful gifts, and it’s easy to design a photo book online.

How To Make A Photo Book With Web Tools

Photo books have caught on very well. It’s not difficult to find software you can use to design a beautiful tribute to a particular family member, major event, or gathering of memories over a certain time period. One person can head your book project as the lead curator, or everyone can work on a page when you design a photo book online. Online photo book printers like Blurb and Snapfish have built in software you can use, but you can also utilize dedicated suites or image-editing programs to create each page to your exact specifications.

Using Dedicated Photo Book Software

Whether you use the dedicated software provided by the printer who is producing physical copies of your book, or you purchase your own software suite and license for another program, you’ll want to set some time aside to watch any video tutorials that are provided to you. This will help you get a feel for how to design a photo book with each format.

Blurb’s Booksmart software works with Flickr accounts and allows you to sync the program with your photo stream. From there you can select all of your photos, choose a particular batch, magnify them, and download the highest resolution available into your Booksmart photo library. Selection is simple, and you can drag and drop images into your layout when you design a photo book online with their web tools. From there, upload the book to Blurb, order, and wait a week or so for your proof to arrive in the mail.

The UK’s Snapfish site offers similar tools. After registering and uploading photos, users who want to design a photo book simply choose their book size, page designs, and select the images they’d like to use for the cover and inside photo pages. Snapfish’s software utilizes a similar drag and drop system. Twenty pages is the standard book size at Snapfish, but users are able to add more pages as they need them.

If you’d prefer a standalone program, software suites like Lumapix’s Fotofusion offer more functionality for strong text effects, the ability to design albums strictly for web to share through social media networks, and vector support for PDFs. Be sure the software program you settle on has all of the features you want for current and future photo book projects.

Creating Photo Books With Image Editing Programs

Programs like Photoshop or the opensource freeware program Gimp have a bit of a learning curve, but they’re extremely useful for a number of design projects. Both are worth the small amount of time it takes to master the use of layering, working with brushes, vectoring, and maximizing the use of typography (fonts). Tutorials can be found in abundance for both programs on video sites like Youtube, and Gimp itself can be downloaded for free on its home site in file formats that are compatible with PC, Linux, and Mac operating systems.

Remember that photographic quality will need to be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution when you design a photo book for print, so be sure to tweak the resolution before saving each page as a printable jpeg. 72 dpi resolution is only suitable for the web and will be blurry or pixelated in print.

Whichever method you use to design a photo book online, you’re sure to produce a treasure that you’ll open and view often. The effort that goes into your completed photo book will be a point of pride, and your friends and family will enjoy the time they spend with their own copies.

From the events of the Arab Spring (especially in Egypt) to the Occupy movements, last year it became more than obvious that spreading the news through social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, can be more efficient than relying on regular journalists.

twitter journalismWhen a huge number of people have the ability to publish what they have seen and their opinions on them, their collective knowledge is a great deal more thorough than that of individual journalists. Furthermore, when events happen in places which journalists have no access to, or so quickly that they miss it, it is only the people who were there at the time who can truly know what happened.

But how exactly do peoples’ voices get to be heard?

Mass Movements

The most obvious cases of social media as a news source came during mass movements, such as Egypt’s revolution. During the revolution, news of what was happening was essential if enough people were to know that the protests were going forward and when the protesters had planned to congregate. This knowledge was particularly important because the protesters needed to know about laws which had been passed by the Egyptian government in order to prevent protest, and so take restrictions such as standing five meters apart.

One of the best and quickest ways for this news to travel was on Facebook. Facebook was by no means the cause of the Egyptian Revolution; however, it was the easiest and most risk-free place for Egyptian citizens to discuss their dissatisfaction with the regime.

At a time when there was particularly strong discontent with the regime, after the death of Khaled Said in police custody, a page was set up entitled ‘We Are All Khaled Said’. Said page then operated as a center for unrest, becoming the place where the first of the Egyptian protests were organized.

Facebook was ideal for this sort of news-spreading; in an atmosphere where criticizing the government might well have been punished, the initiators and participants on ‘We Are All Khaled Said’ could remain anonymous, and when action had been taken against the government, anyone on facebook could find out about it.

New Technologies

Of course, journalism is not normally used to rally people to protest against harsh regimes – more usually, it is simply to tell readers what is happening in the world (the country, the town…). Twitter, an excellent tool for telling your personal followers what you are up to and what you think about it, is now in a perfect place for serving exactly such a purpose. And this is also where Twitter becomes the most social a social medium it can be, as your comments on Twitter alone are not enough to give people the full picture.

Enter Storify. Storify is a new site on which editors – anyone signed onto the site, in fact – search Twitter for Tweets on any given topic. For instance, during the Occupy Wall Street movement, Ben Doernburg, an American college student (not majoring in journalism) made a Storify by combining a number of different tweets to tell a coherent story of what was happening on Wall Street. As the police had banned professional journalists from areas of Wall Street at the time, this was the main source of news and Doernburg’s work was used by Washington Post.

What happens to Journalism now?

Journalism as a profession is probably not going to disappear, and almost certainly not overnight. However, there is now a definite shift occurring in the definition of who is a journalist and who isn’t, and how much attention gets paid to those who are not professionals. For example, the BBC now have a desk dedicated to searching for material on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, which seeks especially to find out where reporting is accurate. This means that, when it is, it can become an important part of the BBC’s reports on any topic.

Anyone can be a journalist now, and this means that far more perspectives are being heard and the media is freer. However, the price for this may be having to look at news sources more critically, just to be sure that the information you are getting is accurate.

Aaron Charlie writes for Silicon Beach Training whose social media workshops are popular with upcoming journalists and writers who want to spread their reach to new audiences outside of traditional medias.

As we know this is the era of modern technology and the number of websites is going to increase with every passing day. Website designing becomes very important in the modern aspect of competition. In the beginning developers prefer to use designing with table which was a traditional method but with the advent of technology the trend is changed now.

Table less design is becoming very famous with every day passing because it gives you more flexibility and ease. In table less web design the designer has no compulsion of using tables for page layout control. Now with the introduction of CSS in the field of designing developers prefer to use CSS to arrange text and other data. The basic reason behind this is to increase web accessibility.

What is web design?

The term web design refers to fine art or designing the website and changes can be made by designers and developers timely. Web designers play a vital role in the development process of website. There are different methods for this purpose. In table less website design we use to avoid rigid HTML. And page layouts were easily handled without tables and this isa search engine friendly technique. Buffalo web Design Company is very famous in this regard.

Advantages:

The designing of a table less website enables you to remove tables and to save bandwidth of up to 75%. It also enables you to organize facts and figures according to priority basis. When you need to replace any information it can be replaced easily without spending much time.

One more important aspect is that it allows efficient implementation. The table less structure enables you to easily load the web page with minimum time. In case if you are using HTML tables in your website it slow down the loading of page and it becomes difficult for the developer to make changes in page layout. On the other hand while using CSS in enables you to place information in a centralized manner and in the end if you want any type of changes you simply change the information without changing the full layout of the page.

It is also easier to add more designs in table less design without much difficulty. Moreover it increases the accessibility. And it is very economical in the terms of budget in contrast to designing with tables.

It gives a very good impression to the visitors. In the process of web development, one major aspect you have to be focused about, is to be user friendly, and to grab the attention of the user. If it takes time for the loading of the page, it detracts the attention of customers and they leave the page. So use the methods which are user friendly.

Buffalo web Design Company is very illustrious in the terms of web designing. It provides you maximum facilities and helps you in all terms. We ensure you to get high quality results and maximum output with minimum expenditure.

We facilitate our worthy customers and pay full attention to their requirements with no time.

Don’t tell the kids, but it is time for designers to stock up on back to school images! Lucky for the graphic design community and bloggers, there are a plethora of low cost, high quality education based images to choose from at Warmpicture.

There are a lot of recent uploads which cover back to school and education themes. Today I’ll show you some of my favorites to help you generate ideas for your designs and layouts.

Female Student with BooksSteve Cukrov has produced some of my favorite education and back to school themed photos over the past few years. His images convey clear themes, and utilize natural looking models (including his daughter in this image).

In this image the stacked books provide a very interesting composition, while at the same time conveying the amount of work students will be facing during the school year. The lighting is soft, and even, which is perfect for stock. And there is enough copy space that a designer can put text on the image without covering the main subject matter.

Student and Teacher in Computer Lab

Edie Layland, also know under the username LaylandMasuda, brings us another natural looking education image. This time she takes us into a school computer lab where a student and teacher are working together on a modern notebook computer.

As technology continues to evolve and computer skills become even more integral as part of overall educational development, images such as this will become increasingly sought after.

Bullying and Schoo Outcasts Bullying is an unfortunate reality for school children, and has become a hot topic of discussion in America and abroad. Mandy Godbehear tackles the problem with an effective image which depicts an outcast teen girl trying to ignore the taunts of the other students.

Natural lighting is utilized here, adding to the believable atmosphere. The image is well composed and contains a great deal of copy space.

Little Girl PaintingLaylandMasuda is back with another great entry for education and back to school designs. This image features an adorable girl painting in school, with a nicely lit backdrop of class paintings hung on the wall.

This is another beautiful image which graphic designers and bloggers will appreciate for its wide range of potential uses. The very light background doubles as a possible template for copy space without covering the model.

Child in WheelchairLisaFX has one of the most extensive collections of students overcoming disabilities. This is one of our favorites for many reasons. Depicting a teen student who is confined to a wheelchair, this image shows us that students can still be active and participate in recreational activities like basketball.

The image is also expertly lit, with the subject completely isolated from a pure white background. This allows designers to easily manipulate the image by pulling out the subject and dropping him into a page layout. It also provides the ultimate flexibility for copy space, which can be added as pure white to either one of the image’s four sides.

While these images are some of our favorites, they are just a drop in the ocean of school based images available through Warmpicture. To see the entire collection, we invite you to visit our Back To School Images page. Or simply visit Warmpicture Stock Photos and type a specific keyword into the search box, or browse the education category.

We hope these images gave you some good ideas for your designs and blog posts. Feel free to give us a shout if you need help finding a specific image.

This week we will take a look at our favorite Autumn images to get you ready for the coming change of seasons!
